To create awareness of the Women’s Right and to empower Women

WEC mainly aims to empower girl students in addition to sensitize all issues related to women (both students and faculties) and to make the college campus a safe place for women students and faculty members. The cell also aims at creating awareness of their rights and duties.

 OBJECTIVES OF WEC

1. Identification of strong leader ship and change makers and building their capacity.

1. To ensure that the rights of women are protected in the institute and they work or study here with equal status and rights.
2. To motivate girl students to undertake activities that strengthen their confidence and make them believe in themselves.
3. To train female faculty, staff and students about general economic and social issues.
4. To make people explore themselves by indulging in new activities.
5. To conduct workshops with a motive to train girls about self-defense, health benefits and skill development.
6. To empower women to face situations during difficult times at home and at workplace.
7. To conduct NSS activities related to women, for their upliftment, growth and emancipation.
8. To bridge the gap between students and teachers by maintaining a cordial relationship between them
9. To specially strengthen women scavengers and lower cadre workers of WEC by educating them in a best possible way, with the motive of making their lives better.
10. To create awareness on equal opportunity for women that will ultimately lead to improved attitude and behaviour.
11. To bring about attitudinal and behavioral change in adolescent youth of the opposite gender.
12. To provide a harassment free working atmosphere, by identifying and fixing responsibility on the concerned persons for ensuring equal treatment of and participation by women in all areas.
13. To conduct programmers for ladies to empower them financially, emotionally, mentally and physically.
14. To Deal appropriately with reported cases of sexual harassment, abuse or discrimination, and initiate action against particular grievances in respect of unfair treatment due to gender bias.

16. To promote a culture of respect and equality for female gender.
17. The provision of opportunities and programs for female gender to be financially, mentally and   emotionally empowered so as to promote their growth as individuals in their own right.
18. To make them aware about the guidelines of Supreme Court and to ensure that sexual   harassment is treated as an unacceptable social behavior within the institution and the society.
19. To involve NSS students of SSIT to interact with rural and urban women who lack formal   education and identify projects suitable for up gradation using technology.
20. To conduct seminar, workshop to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available and   train the women.
21. To help the self help group women to get financial support by identifying the sources.
22. To inculcate entrepreneurial attitude among young girls, scientists at the earliest so that they   can be “job givers” rather than “job takers”.

ACTION PLAN OF WEC

1. All the girl students will be made aware about the guidelines and the safety measures by Members of Women Empowerment Cell.
2. A Session by women achievers of different fields to motivate the girl students of SSIT.
3. A session with resourceful support of renowned Doctors on health issues.
4. Workshop on employability.
5. Innovative Plays will be held on the college premises on social issues.
6. Session on privacy issues about the social websites and other computer related knowledge.
7. Women Cell subunit in each department will be formed.
8. A mail ID to be generated regarding eve teasing, problem arising in campus and hostels.
9. Provision of girls’ common room.
10. Appointment of lady doctor in college campus to look after health issues of girl students.
